NEWSLETTER
Winter, 2017
Date: January 1, 2017
Attention: Current Safety Clients
Again this season, Kimber and Tucker have a few announcements relating to your Safety program. Please take a few minutes to review the following, initiated as part of our continued commitment to effectively coordinate your current Safety requirements.
Safety Certification- PEI *
HSE Integrated recently joined forces with the Construction Association of Prince Edward Island to offer Safety Certification to Island based companies.
A Safety Certification program focuses on changing the corporate safety culture. A Safety program gives management the leadership tools to make positive changes to the safety culture of their company and where everyone accepts responsibility for safety.
The main goal of an audited Safety program is to improve Safety performance. In turn, this should reduce the incidence of injuries, especially among young workers who need special attention.
Advantages of having an Audited Safety Program include:
We at Kimber and Tucker have been coordinating Safety programs on PEI for over a decade. Most have seen a reduction in WCB premiums, incident claims costs, and downtime if an incident occurs. The next logical step for the majority of our PEI based clients is to gain official certification from an authority based throughout Canada. Several of our clients have taken this next step over the past 12 months. Please contact your coordinator, Brad Fremlin, if you are interested in gaining official Safety Certification via HSE Integrated.
New Coordinator Nova Scotia- Jerry Burns
We are pleased to announce Jerry Burns has joined our team of coordinators. Jerry will be advancing and supporting Safety programs for our clients in Nova Scotia.
WorkSafeNB launches new app **
WorkSafeNB, in collaboration with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), recently launched a new app to help New Brunswickers better access workplace health and safety information.
The NB OHS Guide app provides mobile access to the WorkSafeNB guide to OHS legislation website. This site hosts relevant, up-to-date information on more than 35 topics concerning the health and safety of every New Brunswick worker.
Gerald Adams, WorkSafeNB’s president and CEO, offered the following comments in relation to the new app:
“It responds to the evolving needs of our workforce, which is increasingly mobile”.
“It offers the flexibility and portability New Brunswick workers and employers need and want. From any jobsite, a worker can look up health and safety requirements, tips and more, and it’s all available with a few taps of a fingertip”.
Frank Leduc, CCOHS acting president and CEO, offered the following comment in relation to the new app:
“The workplace and the way in which Canadians access information is changing. Embracing new technologies such as mobile apps is essential to bring us closer to our goal of making health and safety information available to every worker”.
The NB OHS Guide app is free and can be downloaded through the APP Store or Google Play, depending on the type of device you use.
